featured stone - carnelian

carnelian is a lovely orange to brown colored stone.  it is a type of agate or chalcedony and has long been used for healing, strength and protection.  

the ancient egyptians called carnelian the "blood of isis" and wore it for protection as well as placing it on the deceased at the time of embalming.  it was often carved into talismans and thought to help while traveling through the underworld.

muslims call this the mecca stone and believe it fulfills all desires, thus bringing perfect happiness.  mohammed is said to have worn a carnelian ring as an amulet for a blessed life after death.

ancient physicians used carnelian to stop bleeding, aid in the progress of childbirth, treating jaundice and other ailments such as nosebleeds and menstrual problems.  

magically, carnelian is used in rituals to speed manifestation and to revitalize and align the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies.  it is said to aid in understanding the inner self and strengthen concentration.  may be worn to help remember astral travels or past lives or placed in a window to help as an alarm for approaching storms or disasters.

the stone in the center is an incredible piece of diamond-shaped mica with a band of purple lepidolite around the edge of it. this occurs naturally and is pretty awesome. there are two pieces of “super seven” and two translucent pieces of lepidolite on the four sides. on top of the lepidolite are pieces of pale pink kunzite and the accent stones are peach, pink and teal tourmalines.
